Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS) at Wagon Wheel Camporee

Those wishing to participate in IOLS, should show up Prepared for a weekend of fun and learning. Participants will form patrols, create patrol flags and yells, and will participate in a shortened Wagon Wheel course where they learn IOLS skills while practicing them. Remaining time is allowed to observe youth leadership and the Patrol Method in action while serving at Skill Stations.
To complete Leader Specific Training during the weekend and earn the Trained patch, participants must have completed the following Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmaster online training prior to arrival:

This IOLS will be held concurrent to the new Camp Wagon Wheel camporee, April 11-13, 2025.
The location is Westcott Ranch, 4 miles outside of Vale, OR.
IOLS starts with a cracker barrel Friday evening at the embers of the camp fire with an intro to the curriculum and the formation of patrols.
Saturday morning, participants come together as patrols for instruction as breakfast cooked by council staff and volunteers. Participants will learn and practice IOLS-related skills as they navigate a shortened Wagon Wheel course. "Troop Guides" will discuss the curriculum and answer questions as participants learn and practice skills.
Time will be set aside for participants to visit skill stations and observe the patrol method.
Instructors and Troop Guides will help you learn how to set up camp, cook, work with woods tools and ropes, plan campfire programs, map reading & compass skills, hiking & packing techniques, nature identification and outdoor ethics.
The program will also give you the opportunity to work with other Scout leaders from your area, meet new friends and reinforce skill techniques with fellow unit leaders.
