Scouting America Mountain West Council Commitment to Service

The year 2026 marks a significant milestone in American history as the nation celebrates its 250th anniversary. Across the United States, communities are coming together to commemorate this momentous occasion, reflecting on the past, celebrating the present, and envisioning the future. America250 is the official celebration of the United States' Semiquincentennial. That is a big word for a simple idea. Our country is turning 250, and we are all invited to take part. The commemoration stretches across several years and brings together people from every corner of the nation to explore the story of America, honor the ideals that have guided us, and imagine what comes next.

To celebrate the 250 Anniversary of the United States, the youth and adults of the Mountain West council are committed to service and recognition of our nations rich history. Each Youth, Unit, and District are dedicated to making this anniversary the best ever. Areas of service and recognition:

  • 25,000 Hours of Service
  • 250,000 lbs. of food donations for Scouting for Food
  • 250 Trees planted
  • 250 Scouts, Scouters and public participants certified Leave no Trace
  • 250 Youth participating in the of July Parades
  • 250 Youth placing flags on Memorial Day
  • 250 Youth placing flags for Wreaths across America

Some of these events will have limited offering event specific patches for the specific activities.  Scouting America and the Mountain West Council are committed to service and recognition of our country's great history. 

To achieve this robust achievement we will need to engage with our youth, adults, charter partners and other organizations to acheive this great success.

"Our goal is ambitious and historic. We aim to record 250,000 Acts of Service across the state.
This initiative is built on the philosophy of neighbor serving neighbor—the belief that we are
stronger together. We intend for this to be a record-breaking year of service, creating a legacy of
volunteerism that will resonate for generations."
